Card order is not cosmetic. The Portuguese version of this page puts the South American leg first; the English version leads with North America. Same probes, ranked for whoever is reading. Anything blocked or slower than eight seconds is reported as unavailable rather than guessed.
Getting a reading you can trust
Pick a quiet moment: Test between games, not while a patch is downloading.
Read the pair: Compare the two Riot cards with each other before looking at the control.

Your client shows one ping and this page shows another — here is why
Riot has spent a decade not using the ordinary internet for match traffic. Their engineering team documented placing equipment in major exchange buildings, leasing fibre between them and peering directly with providers — work they summarised as building their own internet.
That backbone, Riot Direct, is what your game client rides, and a browser cannot enter it. What a browser can reach is Data Dragon and Riot's public websites, which is why the figure here is a proxy for your general path toward Riot rather than a copy of the client's counter.
Reading the three cards like a laner
- Compare Data Dragon with the North American card: a wide gap points at regional routing, not at your router.
- If all three sit close together and high, look at your own line before blaming a region.
- Champion select is a good moment to test — nothing else is competing for the connection.
- Switch from Wi-Fi to cable and rerun; a difference bigger than 15 ms is your access point talking.
- A mobile hotspot as a control run tells you whether the fault follows the house or the provider.
- A steady 90 ms beats a 40 ms that keeps jumping — landing a skillshot punishes variance, not distance.
What Data Dragon is, exactly
Riot's developer documentation describes Data Dragon as the place where League of Legends game data and assets are centralised — champion art, item icons, rune data, downloadable per patch. It is a content network, deliberately kept close to players.
That proximity is why we probe it. If your path to Riot's own asset network is long or unstable, your path to everything else Riot operates is unlikely to be better.
Why a Cloudflare card stays on this board
Two Riot hosts on their own cannot tell you whether a bad number belongs to Riot or to you. The third card is a general-purpose edge with no relationship to the game, and it works as a control.
If the Riot hosts are slow while the control is fast, the path toward Riot is the suspect. If everything is slow, the problem is closer to your desk.
When paying for a better route makes sense in a MOBA
Ranked players on a cable, with a quiet network and a consistently long path to the regional card, are the case where route optimisation is worth trialling. Measure before, measure after, and keep the subscription only if the gap actually closes.
